Identify what the percentage applies to

Some promotions use net gaming losses; others start with deposits and subtract withdrawals, balances, prizes or unsettled bets. Two offers labelled 10% cashback can therefore calculate different amounts from the same account activity.

Take a simple hypothetical net-loss rule: C$200 of qualifying stakes minus C$140 of qualifying returns leaves C$60. Ten percent gives C$6. Under another rule, promotional stakes or selected games might be excluded, so the eligible C$60 would need to be recalculated.

Slotland’s cashback format shows why the calculation base matters: it awards US$100 in bonus funds after each US$1,000 deposit milestone, with 10x wagering and a thirty-day use period. Winaday instead describes cashback based on the previous week’s net losses, with 20x wagering. These are different reward mechanisms even though both use the word cashback.

Cash credit and bonus credit follow different paths

Cashback credited as cash has a different balance path from cashback credited as a bonus. A C$6 cash credit with no wagering requirement and a C$6 bonus with 5 times wagering share a headline amount, but the second requires C$30 of qualifying turnover.

Neither format cancels the original result of the session. In the example, a C$60 net loss followed by C$6 of cash credit leaves a C$54 net loss. The calculation helps describe the offer without treating cashback as a guarantee of recovering losses.

The calculation period and claim period are separate

A weekly promotion can calculate activity from Monday through Sunday and issue the credit on a later day. Its clock may use UTC rather than local Canadian time. A deposit or withdrawal close to the boundary can fall into a different calculation period.

After the amount is calculated, it may appear automatically or require a claim. A further expiry can apply to the credit or its wagering. Record the activity period, credit time and claim deadline separately.

  • Activity window: exact start, end and time zone.
  • Eligible balance: settled games and stated exclusions.
  • Credit route: automatic or claimed.
  • Use window: expiry and any wagering deadline.

Compare the cap and the eligibility threshold

At 10% with a C$50 cap, an eligible base of C$300 produces C$30; a base of C$800 reaches the C$50 cap. A minimum-credit threshold can work in the other direction: a calculated amount below the threshold may not be issued.

VIP cashback can depend on an account level and use different percentages or wagering terms. Keep ordinary-account offers separate from benefits that require a particular tier. A larger headline maximum does not describe the result for every account.

Compare offers using the same activity example

For each option, use the same fictional account activity, apply its definition of the eligible amount, then calculate the percentage and cap. Finish by identifying the credit type and any turnover. This provides a clearer comparison than ranking percentages alone.
