Handicap 0 returns the stake on a draw

At handicap 0, your team needs to win for a winning bet. If the match is drawn, a standard Asian handicap 0 selection is void and the stake is returned. If your team loses, the stake loses. No goals are added or subtracted.

Imagine a CAD 20 stake on Harbour 0 at 1.90. A Harbour win returns CAD 38, including the stake; a draw returns 20; a loss returns zero. These are illustrative cash-stake examples and assume the market uses the stated standard settlement.

A half-goal line has no equal-score push

Harbour −0.5 requires a Harbour win. A draw becomes a loss after subtracting half a goal. Harbour +0.5 succeeds on a Harbour win or a draw, but loses if Harbour loses the match. The handicap changes which results qualify.

The price will normally differ between +0.5 and −0.5 because the selections cover different outcomes. A higher payout on the negative handicap does not make it an equivalent offer with better odds; it requires the narrower result.

Minus 0.25 splits between 0 and −0.5

A CAD 20 stake on Harbour −0.25 divides into CAD 10 on Harbour 0 and 10 on Harbour −0.5. If the match is drawn, the first half is returned and the second half loses. The total return is CAD 10, a net loss of 10.

If Harbour wins, both halves win at the accepted price. If Harbour loses, both halves lose. Some interfaces display the same quarter line as 0, −0.5. That notation describes the two components rather than two separately chosen bets.

Plus 0.25 creates a half win on a draw

With CAD 20 on Harbour +0.25 at 1.90, half is on 0 and half on +0.5. A draw returns the CAD 10 0 stake and pays CAD 19 on the +0.5 half. The combined return is CAD 29, including the original stake.

The net profit is therefore nine units, not 19. A Harbour win makes both halves win for a CAD 38 return; a loss makes both halves lose. Keep return and profit separate when a ticket includes both a winning component and a refunded component.

Minus 0.75 splits between −0.5 and −1

A CAD 20 stake on Harbour −0.75 at 2.00 becomes CAD 10 on −0.5 and 10 on −1. A one-goal Harbour victory wins the first component for CAD 20 and refunds the second for 10. Total return: 30; net profit: 10.

A victory by two or more goals wins both components. A draw or loss loses both. The mirror selection +0.75 has a half loss when the team loses by exactly one. Writing both components down is more reliable than memorising only the words half win.

Check scope before applying the arithmetic

A pre-match full-game handicap, a first-half handicap and an in-play remainder handicap can count different goals. Some live Asian handicap rules ignore goals scored before acceptance. Record the period and counting rule so the correct score enters the calculation.

A three-way European handicap is a different product and can offer an adjusted draw as its own outcome. Do not transfer Asian push rules to it. For a quarter-line ticket, write both component handicaps, assign half the stake to each and calculate their returns separately. Adding those returns makes the final half-win or half-loss amount explicit.
