Bonus credit, free bets and cashback
Write down whether the offer provides cash, bonus credit, a free-bet token or a refund in another form. Then identify the qualifying action. A headline amount without those two pieces is not enough to compare two offers.
Use a four-column note: money you supply; qualifying conditions; reward received; withdrawal conditions. Keep your own deposit separate from the reward. This is a reading aid, not a claim that all four columns are legally interchangeable across countries.
- Must the user opt in, and is the offer limited to new accounts?
- Which deposit methods, sports and market types qualify?
- Does the advertised amount depend on several separate steps?
- Is the reward cash, restricted credit or a token with an expiry?
Calculate the wagering requirement
In a fictional example, a 30-unit bonus with a five-times requirement on the bonus needs 150 units of qualifying wagers. The multiplication is 30 × 5. It is not a requirement to make 150 units in profit, nor a guarantee that the bonus will survive until the condition is met.
If the wording names a different base amount, the same multiplier produces a different calculation. Record the precise base, eligible contribution and deadline instead of quoting only the multiplier. Do not assume that a mathematical example describes a permitted offer in your country.
In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission’s current rewards-and-bonuses code caps requirements on bonus funds at ten times and prohibits incentives that include more than one gambling product type. The Commission states that these changes took effect on 19 January 2026. This is a jurisdiction-specific rule, not evidence that any operator in our shortlist is licensed there.
Free-bet returns: is the stake included?
Consider a purely illustrative 12-unit token used at decimal odds of 3.50. If its terms pay winnings but do not return the token stake, the winning credit would be 12 × (3.50 − 1) = 30 units. A standard winning cash stake at the same odds would instead return 42 in total, including the original 12.
The difference is why our ordinary odds calculator should not be used to value an unfamiliar bonus token. Check whether the stake is returned, whether the resulting winnings have conditions and what happens if the selection is void. The actual offer determines the answer.
Qualifying odds, markets and expiry dates
A useful review states any minimum price, excluded markets and settlement deadline beside the reward. It also distinguishes placing a bet before a deadline from having it settle before that deadline. A postponed event can make that distinction important, so leave it unresolved when the terms do not say.
Do not rush additional gambling to rescue an expiring reward. First check the effect of declining the bonus or withdrawing your own balance. In Great Britain, the Commission’s deposit-balance guidance distinguishes a player’s own funds from bonus funds and addresses restrictions on their withdrawal.
- Do cash-out, void, refunded or partially settled bets qualify?
- Is there a maximum qualifying stake or maximum convertible amount?
- What is the deadline and time zone for each stage?
- What happens to the reward if the player requests a withdrawal?
Keep a record of the bonus terms
Keep the offer name, terms URL, review date and any account-specific wording together. A missing answer should remain a question in the review. An affiliate banner, a generic FAQ and the terms for the actual local offer can describe different things.
